Haiti

As I am sure you all know Haiti got rocked by an earthquake earlier this week. If you are looking for some way to get involved beyond prayer may I suggest Lifeline Christian Mission. The above picture is of one of their classrooms which was leveled. They have had a presence in Haiti for 30 years and will now have to go about rebuilding everything they have done. Check them out here.

One thought that has been weighing heavily on me is to go there on a short term mission trip this summer. What say you men?

The Fellowship of the Cross

After Gen Con, the Wallet Draining Lich and I had an idea to implement an Adventurer based Church Service at Origins in 2009. I think it would be successful and well received and I really think it would be something we can pull off but it would take a group effort. A chance to combine our God given talents and our love of nerdiness for the greater good. What say you Men?

Holiday Challenge

I want to challenge you guys to join me in this worthy cause. We have all been blessed in immeasurable ways and this is a great opportunity to give something back. Lifeline has been an outstanding Mission for years and we have a tie to it with a former minister (to some of us), classmate (to others), and friend to others.

My suggestions is that we all throw in $20.00 or so and purchase the requested items and then drop them off in Westerville next time everyone is here. Here is the list:


Foods items needed:

Canned and foil packaged meats and meals * Dried beans and peas

Rice * Pastas (all types) * Canned vegetables * Soups
*
Canned meals (such as Spaghetti-O’s, etc.)
*
Bottled water * Peanut butter * Powdered infant formula * Baby cereal

When donating foods, choosing lighter weight food items allows for more food to be packed on the 40-foot container.

Relief items will be shared with other mission organizations in Haiti.

Please note: we are NOT requesting clothing or shoes; only food.

This is another faith based movie by the people who brought you Facing the Giants. In order to keep Hollywood making good Christian movies we must support them in the theatres. I know we are taking a group from out church to see this on its opening week end and I would encourage you to do the same. It opens on September 26th.
