Man of Steel

this comes out in mid June and looks pretty good. I really hope that the Superman franchise can become what the Dark Knight did for DC Comics

Wonder Woman back on TV?

It looks like NBC is filming a pilot for another super hero TV show, (hopefully it works out better than The Cape) Wonder Woman. Adrianne Palicki from Friday Night Lights (Tyra) will star. The network released a photo of her in the famous outfit.

And just in case you don't remember the original here is a side-by-side shot.

The original series aired in 1975 and ran through 1979 for a total of 60 episodes.

The Cape

Ok, I watched the premier of The Cape on NBC. And after two hours I can't decide if it is good, bad, funny or sucks. At times it was all of the above. I think I will have to see a few more episodes to be sure of what it actually is. Villains with names like Chess and the Chef and a crime syndicate called the Carnival of Crime bring back Campy memories of the old Batman TV show. So at this point I have to rate it at 1 Floyd and a bit, for now. Check back in a few weeks for an update.

Because I am Kick-ass! I'm also not gay

Well I went and saw the movie Kick Ass today. I went in with no knowledge about the plot other than some kid who was trying to become a super hero. I thought it was a spoof on this. I was wrong.

You have to go see it to believe it. It starts really slow and you think it is just another Seth Rogan type stupid sophomoric comedy. Nope wrong again. This is probably one of the most violent movies I have seen. Think Boondock Saints violent. And then the disturbing ,albeit only slightly, parts begin. In a lot of ways it out Super Heroes a lot of Super Hero movies. I'd recommend it. 3 Floyds and a bit

Ironman 2

Ironman 2. The one that Marvel let get away. It could have been great. It could have followed up Ironman and set the tone for comic book movies for a few years to come but it didn't. The effects were pretty cool. The bad guy was ok. Mickey Rourke, as Whiplash, could have been right up there with Heath Ledger as one of the great villians of all time but it just never jelled. His Russian character could have been great but he was hard to understand at times and you just never feel like you got to "know" him.

Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow was hot. She definitely needs more screen time.

Overall, I felt a little disapointed. Marvel looked like Shane Mosely trying to counter punch DC's The Dark Knight's Floyd Mayweather in this one.

I give it 3 Floyds only because it was one of my favorite Comics ever.

<

P.S. Stay through the credits and watch for some subtle references throughout the show.

Comic Book Movie News

It looks like the New Spiderman Movie will have Black Cat in it.

As you have probably heard Ryan Reynolds will play Hal Jordan/ Green Lantern in the film that will be released in June of 2011.

There is also a remake of 1981's Clash of the Titans due out in March of 2010. It has Liam Neeson as Zeus (Laurence Olivier played him originally) so it has to be good right? See the preview here.

And finally a movie that pays homage to the action flick era of the 80's through the late 90's. In The Expendables a team of mercenaries head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator. It may be a reworked script from a Mission Impossible episode but we have to go see it just because of the cast. Sly Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger all make an appearance as well as Jason Stratham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts and Steve Austin. Mark it down! lol

Did anyone else see this?

You have got to check this out. Evidently there are people dressing up like Super Heroes and actually patrolling the streets of major cities. Read the article and check out one website devoted to this, apparently growing, trend.

So this begs the questions; would you do this? What would you call yourself? How far would you go to intervene during the commission of a crime?
