Origins



I know it runs concurrently with our event but we always manage to get over to it for a few hours anyway. 64 days until Origins starts its 35th show. Looks like the $5 Day Pass is back:

Day Pass

Origins is proud to continue to offer our popular day passes again this year.

For each day the exhibitor hall is open (Thursday thru Sunday) we will allow people to attend the show for an admission fee of only $5/day. You can bring the whole family for only $15/day!

Please keep in mind that these passes do not allow you to play in any ticketed games or events at the show.

The day passes do allow access into all non-ticketed events, such as:
• Entry to the Exhibit Hall
• Entry to the Art Show
• Entry into the Origins Theme area for breakfast or evening events
• Participation in the Origins Auction
• Participation in Open Gaming

The Adventure of Doom part Deux


Your party has returned to the cemetery via the passage way you found in the graveyard. After making it out, barely, you all feel blessed to be alive. After a few days you should be almost back to full health. After much debate you have to decide whether or not to return to the dungeon or continue on your quest. You have but 5 days left to deliver the parcel to Marsember. You are 4 days and a bit away. As you are talking you hear the sounds of horses rapidly approaching. What do you do? The Prince of Persia


I went and saw the Prince of Persia this morning starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Since it was based off of a game I didn't expect a lot. I didn't leave disappointed. Overall it was, meh, at best. I will say that Jake's character, Dastan, would be a pretty cool D&D character. Oh wait, he is all of the Hairy Ones characters. The female lead, Gemma Arterton (Strawberry Fields from Quantum of Solace), was pretty hot although they could have made her a lot more seductive.

It was better than the D&D movie so go see it. I only paid $5 for the ticket so that made it more tolerable. 2 Floyds and a bit.

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day. Enjoy the day with family and friends. Picnic, cook out, party on. But take a moment to reflect on what this day means to you. Swing by a cemetery and pay respects to those loved ones who have gone before. In the Gettysburg Address it was said by President Lincoln that "We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate... we can not consecrate... we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. Buy some small Flags and go decorate an unattended grave of a veteran. General Logan in his original Memorial Day order said " Let no wanton foot tread rudely on such hallowed grounds. Civil Rights Game


Last Saturday I had the opportunity to attend the annual MLB Civil Rights Game in Cincinnati. As baseball honored those who have worked for equality across this country for all. Four of the best players of the 50's and 60's were there. A veritable Mt. Rushmore of baseball studs were on the field as Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks and Frank Robinson were there. Here are some of the pictures. Oh yeah the Reds won 4-3 on a walk-off defensive play at the plate.

I went and saw the latest telling of Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe. I do have to say I liked it. Now I love Robin Hood and movies set in that time period so I thought combining the two would be awesome. I was wrong. It was good but far from awesome. Crowe did a pretty good job but he never had that aha moment as Robin of the Hood. If you renamed all the characters it would be a good movie, maybe even a little better. The best thing they did was set it up for a sequel which I will go see. After all it is Robin Hood, sort of.

Weekend Plan Ramblings

Tonight the plan is to have a nice cookout, clean up the patio area and enjoy the great outdoors. A little fire pit action and listen to the Reds.

















Tomorrow morning make a dump run and then going to see the New Robin Hood movie. It looks pretty good and the reviews have been decent so far.

























After that we head to Cincinnati for the Cardinals & Reds. It is the annual Civil Rights Game and will have some fun festivities going on. The Reds will be honoring their first African-American player, Chuck Harmon.


Both teams will be wearing throw back uniforms that reflect 1947 when the color line was broken in baseball. I'm looking forward to checking out their new Hall of Fame exibits.

Because I am Kick-ass! I'm also not gay



Well I went and saw the movie Kick Ass today. I went in with no knowledge about the plot other than some kid who was trying to become a super hero. I thought it was a spoof on this. I was wrong.

You have to go see it to believe it. It starts really slow and you think it is just another Seth Rogan type stupid sophomoric comedy. Nope wrong again. This is probably one of the most violent movies I have seen. Think Boondock Saints violent. And then the disturbing ,albeit only slightly, parts begin. In a lot of ways it out Super Heroes a lot of Super Hero movies. I'd recommend it. 3 Floyds and a bit

Ironman 2


Ironman 2. The one that Marvel let get away. It could have been great. It could have followed up Ironman and set the tone for comic book movies for a few years to come but it didn't. The effects were pretty cool. The bad guy was ok. Mickey Rourke, as Whiplash, could have been right up there with Heath Ledger as one of the great villians of all time but it just never jelled. His Russian character could have been great but he was hard to understand at times and you just never feel like you got to "know" him.

Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow was hot. She definitely needs more screen time.

Overall, I felt a little disapointed. Marvel looked like Shane Mosely trying to counter punch DC's The Dark Knight's Floyd Mayweather in this one.

I give it 3 Floyds only because it was one of my favorite Comics ever.
