BCS Craziness

Congrats to the Cincinnati Bearcats who will be going to a BCS Bowl for the first time in their history. The Bearcats won the Big East Title when Pitt upset West Virginia 19-15 in Pittsburgh. The Buckeyes are becoming more and more of a long shot to get a BCS game as the season winds down. They will need help from Oregon who plays Oregon State Saturday. If that happens USC wins the Pac 10 and will go to Pasadena to face Penn State in the Rose Bowl. That will leave a possible at large bid for Ohio State. Alabama and Florida will play in the SEC Championship game and the winner will advance to the Championship Game. The Big 12 is where the problem comes in to play. The current BCS standings look like this:

1 Alabama 11-0
2 Texas 11-1
3 Oklahoma 10-1
4 Florida 10-1
5 USC 9-1
6 Utah 12-0
7 Texas Tech 10-1
8 Penn State 11-1
9 Boise State 11-0
10 Ohio State 10-2
11 Georgia 9-2

The BCS Bowl picture looks like this:

Rose presented by Citi Jan. 1
4:30 p.m. Pasadena, CA Penn State vs. BCS ABC

FedEx Orange Jan. 1
8:30 p.m. Miami, FL BCS vs. BCS FOX

Allstate Sugar Jan. 2
8 p.m. New Orleans, LA BCS vs. BCS FOX

Tostitos Fiesta Jan. 5
8 p.m. Glendale, AZ BCS vs. BCS FOX

FedEx BCS National Championship Jan. 8
8 p.m. Miami, FL BCS No. 1 vs. BCS No. 2 FOX

6 Conference Champs are locks, two of those spots are claimed; Penn State and Cincinnati. Utah will be in also. That leaves the only way for Ohio State to have a chance to get in is Oregon State must lose. Either way we will have an answer about OSU and the BCS by Sunday morning. For the record the Buckeyes are 4-2 in BCS games with both losses coming in Championship Games.
